At a glance
Each year we provide programs and activities for thousands of young people across Victoria. What we offer is unique, creative, empowering and grounded in building positive connections between young people and their community.
We partner with police and emergency services, local health and fitness providers, and a wide range of community agencies to deliver our programs. We believe that place-based programs have the greatest impact, so we work within local communities using local facilitators and community stakeholders.
Together we make a difference, seeing positive outcomes for young people across Victoria.
We offer events and activities through our Blue Light branch network and school-based programs. Learn more about our branches here.
Our school-based programs, Blue EDGE and DASH aim to:
- increase self-confidence and resilience, empowering young people to make safe and healthy choices.
- develop connections between young people and key community role models in a fun and safe environment.
- increase health, fitness, and mental wellbeing for young people.
Our programs
Blue EDGE
Blue EDGE, an innovative fitness and workshop based program for young people (12 – 16 years) that aims to improve mental wellbeing, connection to community and healthy and safe decision making. This innovative program is delivered in collaboration with police and emergency services, providing a unique growth and development opportunity for young people.
DASH
DASH is an in-school, whole-class program for upper primary school students that aims to increase student wellbeing and improve community connectedness. As part of their learning students develop a real-life practical project to address a community concern and engage with our partners across police, emergency services and community organisations to implement the project.
Evidence & Impact
We work with the Assessment and Evaluation Research Centre (AERC) at Melbourne University to undertake extensive evaluation of our programs to ensure that they are meeting the needs of young people and positive program outcomes.
Child Safety
We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all young people.
This is the primary focus of our care and decision-making. Blue Light Victoria has zero tolerance for child abuse.
