At last week’s Resilient Australia Awards Victorian ceremony, DASH was awarded Highly Commended for the Resilient Australia Community Award – great recognition for the hard work and dedication of the many people involved in our DASH program since the pilot in 2022.
DASH was developed to address the urgent needs of Victorian young people impacted by bushfires and floods. Its primary goal was to foster resilience for disaster recovery, support social recovery and mitigate the health effects of natural disasters across several Local Government Areas. You can read more about the program here.
The Resilient Australia Awards celebrate and promote initiatives that build communities resilience to disasters and emergencies around Australia as well as capture and share examples of resilience in action. The awards recognise collaboration and innovative thinking across a broad range of sectors and initiatives that strengthen disaster resilience with communities, institutions, and the private sector.
Since being established in 2000, the awards have recognised outstanding contributions in each state and territory across multiple sectors and disciplines. The awards endorse a wide range of initiatives; with past projects centred around risk assessment and mitigation, planning and preparation, and response and recovery.
The Resilient Australia Awards is proudly sponsored by the Australian Government in partnership Emergency Management Victoria, managed by the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR).
