Mike Bush CNZM is the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police and Patron of Blue Light Victoria. With over 42 years of policing and leadership experience in New Zealand and internationally, Mike brings unparalleled expertise and a strong commitment to supporting young people and community safety.

During his distinguished career, Mike led New Zealand’s response to major emergencies, including the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in Phuket, the Kaikoura earthquake, the Christchurch terror attack, and the Whakaari White Island eruption. For his leadership in these efforts, he was awarded the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, the New Zealand Special Service Tsunami Medal, and, in 2020, was elevated to Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

Mike served two terms as Commissioner of New Zealand Police, overseeing core policing functions and leading responses to significant national and international challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic. Beyond policing, he has contributed his expertise to several boards and governance groups, completing leadership programs including the Government Performance Programme at Harvard Kennedy School of Executive Education and earning a Certificate in Company Direction.

As Patron of Blue Light Victoria, Mike plays a vital role in amplifying the organisation’s mission, lending his influence, experience, and support to empower young people across the state.
