New Federal Government funding for Blue Light programs

Today the Federal Attorney General, the Hon. Mark Dreyfus, announced funding for Blue Light Victoria under the U25-GO Program. Over the next 18 months we will implement a variety of programs that will aim to re-engage at-risk youth with education, reduce anti-social behaviour, and foster stronger connections with their families and communities.

Programs will be rolled out in the Bendigo, Latrobe and Melbourne regions, and include 1:1 mentoring, an adapted Blue EDGE program for gender and culturally diverse communities and a new program which will focus on community outreach for secondary school students.

The U25-Go Program will assist youth organisations like Blue Light to deliver crime prevention and drug diversion programs for young people under the age of 25 at risk of engaging with the criminal justice system. The Australian Government has invested nearly $14 million in the future of young Australians, ensuring they have the support, guidance, and opportunities to build lives of purpose, free from the cycles of criminality. Itโ€™s about ensuring that young people are seen, heard, and given every opportunity to succeed.

With a longstanding and respected strong track record of providing innovative early intervention programs for young people, Blue Light is extremely proud to have been granted the funding and we look forward to the next 18 months!
